Isaiah Sheffer
December 30, 1935 - November 8, 2012
There are a lot of pictures out there of Isaiah, but this one actually captures something of him. The Times obit was very good, yet didn't put across what it was about Isaiah. He twinkled. Yes, there was the voice, yes, there was the wit and yes, there was the boundless desire to entertain and illuminate, but overall, it was his charm. In this picture, I can just imagine him asking the audience, "How many Starbucks do we need? Right now, I can order my latte at one, and walk just long enough to finish it in time to buy another one two blocks away!"
He taught me so, so many things. I can't imagine I ever taught him anything. He knew it all.
